Dear Dreamweaver,

Index of Dreams

Dear Dreamweaver,

Lately I have been having this dream, and it has me very confused.

I am visiting my parents' home and I am sitting in the living room when
there is a knock on the door. My mom tells me that it is my ex-girlfriend at
the door, and when I get to the door she tells me that she has come to
return the things that are mine. When I go to get them, she has parked
behind a motor home and she is driving a sky-blue Toyota mini-van. When I
get to the van she is putting on her make-up and in the van are two very
small puppies. We have a very polite, almost friendly talk about small
things and then she looks at me and she tells me that she still cares for
me. Then the dream suddenly ends.

One thing that I have made special note of is that the van is a beat-up
late model and it is the same colour as the sky, which by the way is also
clear and cloudless in my dream. During this dream I experience two very
distinct emotions; first, happiness at my parents' place, then anger when
the ex shows up. Then I feel both fear and confusion when she tells me she
still cares for me.

Sincerely,

Confused about the puppies

Dear Confused Puppies,

The overall message here is unfinished business. You need to find
permenant closure to your relationship with your ex-girlfriend in order to
proceed with any future plans or relationships.

Your parents home is a safe haven for you, somewhere to go when you need
comfort and peace. Something we all need on occasion. A door is indicative
of an obstacle you must clear in order to proceed along your life's path.
The fact that she is returning your things is indicative of letting go, and
maybe you should try to do the same thing. The motor home indicates a
complete change of circumstance while the mini-van symbolizes the personal
effort needed in order to help this change along.

The color blue is a sign of needed relaxation, healing peacefulness and a
need for self-expression and personal liberation. You need to let yourself
go and stop hiding behind that double-reinforced steel door of yours.
Putting on make-up is like putting on your public face or mask. Everyone
has one and we all use it as a means of protection. Maybe she is afraid you
may try and hurt her like she has hurt you. Some food for thought.

The puppies are indicative of a new friendship or relationship. Your dream
states that she expressed that her feelings for you haven't changed, but
this may just be wishful thinking on your part. Tread carefully here. The
late model beat-up van means comfort, like a worn, faded pair of blue jeans.
This could indicate your desire to slip back into something you consider
comfortable. Be careful, sometimes comfortable isn't always better, and the
breaking-in part can be a lot of fun. You expressed emotions of anger, fear
and confusion which could mean mental turmoil, a lack of self-confidence and
a stuggle to express that which is really troubling you.

Anger also symbolizes disappointments in love, but if you can work through
your issues you will find happiness and the true love you desire. By letting
go of your past hurts and present insecurities you will have peace and
comfort in your life once again.
