Dear
Dreamweaver,
I had a dream
that's really puzzling me, and a friend of mine suggested I send
it to you. I was kidnapped or trapped in an apartment by someone
that I don't know, which is strange because I knew everyone else
in this dream.
I was trapped there for about two weeks, and
I couldn't escape, even when my captor left, because of something
keeping it locked, I think it was magic of some sort. A male acquaintance
of mine was in with my captor, but he eventually helped me to escape,
although I don't know how I did.
He was really afraid of what would happen to
him when my captor found out. The apartment building wasn't far
from downtown Victoria, and I ended up there in true dream fashion,
without knowing how I got there.
I had had two bags containing several things
including clothing and other stuff that I would normally take on
a trip. I couldn't take these things with me when I left, because
my captor would have stopped me, though I don't know how.
When I got downtown, I began to shop to replace
these things, trying to stay low in case my captor appeared. The
guy who helped me escape came with me, and I remember thinking that
my mom would be upset because she'd have to help me pay for the
things, but I reasoned that she would just be glad that I got away.
Some moment in time later, a few days maybe,
I was with my boyfriend, but he didn't seem to be upset about the
whole thing. He seemed distracted, but I wasn't upset about it.
A female acquaintance was in there at some point, but I don't remember
when, just that I felt she wanted to hurt me in some way.
I'm really puzzled by the sense of helplessness
and fear that I felt. I'm also wondering why I don't know my captor,
only that he was tall and thin, and I was afraid of him. If you
could provide any insight, it would be much appreciated.

Dear Puzzled
The overall impression of this dream is letting
go of past hurts and accepting who you have become. Our past experiences
help shape the person we are today. Although, getting there is sometimes
hard and painful, it does make us stronger in mind and in spirit.
It seems that the most important message here
is getting rid of old and unwanted baggage. Leaving your two bags
behind is an indication of this and the fact that if you had taken
them with you, you would have been caught. This is a direct warning
that it is high time to leave that part of your past behind you.
You stated that you couldn't leave, this could
mean difficulty in understanding what baggage needed to be left
behind and the magic states that it won't be to difficult to work
it out once you allow yourself to see the problems or issues. Since
you did escape, the issues will work themselves out.
Although they will need a little help from
your rescuer, which you stated was a male acquaintance of yours.
He may indirectly be the key to your problems or issues from your
past. In addition, the fact that you had help escaping indicates
that you will, eventually, need help, so don't be afraid to ask
for it.
Being kidnapped suggests, in itself, caution
against the trappings of arrogance, ego and materialism, the kidnapper
or captor indicates that you may be overcome by fears and doubts
that may cause a feeling of insecurity. The number two, which came
up a couple of times, indicates that personal relationships need
to be handled carefully. It also represents some of your personal
qualities, which could be integrity, unselfishness, placidity, indecision,
balance, and indifference.
Your fear is a manifestation of what you feel
is a lack of confidence in yourself and having to deal with problems
arising from the deceit or dishonesty of someone you trusted. Your
boyfriend being distracted in your dream could indicate that you
are allowing diversions to interfere with advancement, which could
be in work, school or relationships.
Dreaming of you mom signifies love and happiness
in your personal affairs, which you will have once you have worked
through your old baggage. You also stated that you felt she might
be upset with you this may just be your fear that she may not approve
of something or someone in your life.
Your dream stated that she would be more concerned
about your well being, which is right. Our parents may not always
approve of or like some of our decisions, but they will support
us because they are our parents. Your female acquaintance could
be jealous of or desire something you have accomplished or attained,
but she won't try to take it from you.
Overall, this is a very enlightening dream.
The next step may be difficult and trying but with a little fortitude
and strength, the outcome will be positive.
