Gay Marriage & Pot go together like a horse
and carriage
OK where did I leave off, I have so much to
bitch about it is so hard to choose. Hmmm….. Lets see, how
about continuing with a tirade about all those scared people out
there who think society will collapse because Canada has decriminalized
pot and sanctioned homosexual marriage.
Fist lets get this straight pot is just as
bad as every other drug out there that is legal including alcohol,
antidepressants, all types of painkillers ect ect. There is a problem
with pot as compared to most other drugs though. What is that you
may ask? Well anyone who knows how to water a plant can grow it.
All you need is some dirt sunshine and water and you too can have
your own pot.
This is not so easily accomplished with all
the other drugs. Yes I know making beer or wine is pretty easy but
it still requires some thought, planning and some expensive equipment
not nearly as easy as growing pot. And all those other chemical
drugs well for your average person forget it they can never produce
any of them, or for that matter hard alcohol where you need a distiller.
I saw an ad about pot smoking recently where
they talk about the mind altering properties and the problems it
can cause while 30 seconds later there was a beer commercial promoting
the drink me you will be irresistible and sexy by drinking our beer.
Talk about a contradiction. Ever notice there are hardly any commercials
promoting the real problems of alcohol.
You know what I am talking about right the
fights at the bars, the spousal abuse, and child abuse that are
linked to alcohol use and abuse. How about the number of people
killed on the roads every year by drinking drivers. How about the
number of domestic disturbances police are called to because of
alcohol. I don't know about you but I see more problems from the
people that I see drink alcohol than from those I see who smoke
pot.
Yes they are both mind altering drugs and yes
they both can and do cause problems in life. But I fail to see the
reason why pot is illegal although no longer a criminal offense
(it is slowly moving in the right direction and about time) and
alcohol is legal the biggest difference I can see is the control
of it. It is much easier to control alcohol than pot. 
Then there is hemp one of the strongest fibers
know to man, in fact all rope on sailing ships was made from hemp
in the early part of the 20th century, all the way though the 2nd
world war. Its fibers are also great for paper and clothing. But,
yet for some unknown reason it is illegal to grow although you would
have to smoke half a field to get high on it. (hmmm…. Forest
industry anyone???) Nah!! That is just another silly conspiracy
theory.
Oh yea and onto to the homosexual marriage
issue. It wasn't until recent time that marriage even existed in
its current form, previous to that it was simply a union between
two people. Many societies condoned same sex unions at one time.
This problem with same sex unions supposedly being a bad thing is
a uniquely Christian problem and their inability to practice what
they preach.
That is the practice of tolerance of others
and their views and to love their neighbor as they would love themselves.
My guess is that they really hate themselves since they seem to
spend so much time hating their neighbors. No wait that is the supposed
view of many organized religions; preaching supposed tolerance while
promoting hatred at every turn.
Can anyone out there explain how society will
collapse because of gay marriages???? I bet they can't even put
forward a valid argument that will hold up under the daylight of
logic. And saying the bible says it is bad is not a very good reason
since that silly book can't even agree with itself most of the time
(that's a topic for a later spew). I challenge anyone out there
to come up with a valid argument that will hold water.
Nope!!! Because they can't procreate is not
very valid either since it is neither completely true nor necessary
that someone gets married to have a child. I know plenty of people
who where born to non-wed parents. In addition, with today's technology
it is quite possible for anyone to procreate, yes even gay men.
I think it is about time that gays have received
the rights that so many of us heterosexuals have had and taken for
granted our whole lives. Besides marriage is more about the government
and other benefits it brings more than it is simply about the union
of two people anyway.
