People – oops! Winnipeg Mosquito Fogging

By Suzanne Berton © 29-Jul-05

Dear Editor:

I am just and ordinary Canadian with simple opinions.  Yet I couldn't help express the confusion I feel over this whole affair.  I suspect many Canadians feel the same way.  This just makes me wonder where will this all lead to in 10 years time.

Thank you for reading.  Suzanne

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We will kill those dratted mosquitoes no matter what!
This is indeed a tough deal - getting rid of potentially harmful mosquitoes with insecticides verses harming the healths of people in the process. Now people are resisting a physician's group warning them to stop mosquito fogging due to the health risks. Never mind what they are breathing – this fine mist of insecticide called fogging. We want those pesky mosquitoes dead.
Strangely enough, people would oppose health officials who failed to speak out against such the fogging of potentially harmful insecticides if it were found to have done serious harm to people at a later date. ‘No one told us about the risks,' people would criticize.
Though a majority of folks want the fogging to stop the dreaded mosquito invasion, I wonder if the majority should rule when it comes to the health of individuals, particularly those who cannot speak for themselves, such as children, the disabled, the elderly, etc…
Annihilate those maddening mosquitoes no matter what the cost.
END
