Singing while driving

Dear Editor:
I am just and ordinary Canadian with simple opinions. Yet I couldn't help express the confusion I feel over this whole affair. I suspect many Canadians feel the same way. This just makes me wonder where will this all lead to in 10 years time.
Thank you for reading. Suzanne

A new British report says if we sing to music, we will focus better on our driving. A music psychologist who did this study for an insurance company even went as far as saying we are less likely to fall asleep at the wheel if we sing. In my case I guarantee singing while driving will prevent me from falling asleep at the wheel. At least that's what my family tells me. “You'll wake up everybody.”
“Oh, no!” they cry. “Here she goes again! Turn on the radio.” Somehow they have this idea if they turn on the radio, I will stop. “Yeah, right!”
To defend myself, I have used this new report on singing in the car. It's an easy enough diversion, I tell them. We will be happier. It will help us concentrate. “Forget that idea!” they've told me. “Come on,” I tell them, “ Singing makes me happy. The dog loves my singing. God said makes a joyful noise.” Nothing works. They just cannot stand my singing.
Anyhow, when they wrote this report on singing to concentrate while driving, they forgot to mention, if you can really sing while driving, then you would concentrate better. You won't get everybody around you hollering to stop. You must sing alone.
