Buckwheat Zydeco: The Facts

1999 marked the 20th Anniversary of Buckwheat Zydeco.

Latest LPs: "Trouble" released on Buckwheat Zydeco's own label, Tomorrow Recordings, in January 1999 (originally released in May 1997 by Mesa/Atlantic Records) distributed in the U.S. by Alternative Distribution Alliance, and a children's record: "Choo Choo Boogaloo" released by the Music For Little People label, in Aug. 1994.

Performed Buck's version of "Jambalaya" on the Closing Ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta to a worldwide audience of 3 BILLION PEOPLE... And 17,000 crazed athletes in the stadium.

Opened and closed President Clinton's second Innaugural in January 1997. We played the first Innaugural, too.

Played the Democratic National Committee's 150th Birthday celebration at Union Station, hosted by Vice President and Mrs. Al Gore. The vice president thanked Buck and told the crowd by that he owned and enjoyed Buckwheat Zydeco's CDs thanks to his daughter who had attended school in New Orleans.

On the Fourth of July, 1998, Buckwheat Zydeco performed with the Boston Pops. This was the 25th anniversary of one of the most famous American traditions, and over 500,000 sang along and cheered wildly as Buck and the band played three songs specially arranged for them and the full orchestra. The event was televised live on the A&E Network.

The Durals also have a recipe in Emiril Lagasse's cookbook, and in the Tabasco Sauce cookbook.
