Jane Siberry 2004 Tour

Beauty Train Tour
Jane is heading out on tour starting on November 18th. The shows will all be solo and they will feature favourites as well as new and unrecorded materials. The lovely and talented
Adrienne Pierce will be opening for Jane at all of the shows.

k.d. lang Covers Two Of Jane's Songs
k.d. lang's new album "Hymns Of The 49th Parallel" features songs by k.d's favorite Canadian songwriters. There are two Jane Siberry songs ('The Valley' and 'Love is Everything') on the album. The album is beautiful and the live show is amazing.

For those of you new to Jane's music, you can find 'The Valley' on the album "Bound By The Beauty". 'Love Is Everything' is available on "When I Was A Boy" which includes another song, a duet with k.d. called 'Calling All Angels'. Also, for a good introduction to Jane, the recent
Jane Siberry Anthology offers a wide retrospective of her music and includes the song 'Love Is Everything'.

Jane Siberry • vocalist, musician, composer

When she was sixteen, Jane Siberry traded marbles, make-up and sang harmonies in school washrooms with girlfriends. Thirteen recordings and five Juno nominations later, Siberry has become internationally known for her angelic and filmic music.

In 1981, Jane released her first recording independently, selling it off-stage. Signing with a Canadian label in 1984 she released "No Borders Here". This yielded the hit song, "Mimi On The Beach." Her 1985 effort, "The Speckless Sky", earned Siberry her first music awards, as it reached Gold status in Canada and garnered two People’s Choice Awards for "Album of the Year" and "Producer of the Year."

The acclaim brought Siberry to the attention of Warner/Reprise in the US, which signed her in 1987, and produced the hauntingly beautiful, "The Walking". Two years later, she followed up the enigmatic album with "Bound By The Beauty". The album caught the ear of producer and ambient music pioneer Brian Eno, who offered to produce some tracks for her next album, 1993’s "When I Was A Boy". This recording became Siberry's biggest commercial success, and included such hits as "Calling All Angels", which featured a duet with k.d. lang and first appeared in Wim Wenders’ film, "Until The End Of The World". The song was later re-recorded for the climactic scene in the movie, "Pay It Forward" (2000). The adventurous "Maria" followed, reflecting Siberry’s push towards more improvisational ‘present’ music.

In 1996, Siberry left Warner/Reprise and started the internet-based Sheeba Records. The past six years have been a whirlwind for Siberry, throwing her into the world of running a business in order to find creative freedom in all aspects of her work. She says the learning curve has been so steep sometimes that "I have found myself at the bottom with what I can only guess would be a look of surprise on my face." However, never one to say "never", she has released six recordings and three poem-books from her website janesiberry.com.

"Teenager" (1996), Siberry’s first songs, allowed a glimpse into the artist’s past. The "New York Trilogy" collection was the outcome of her extraordinary series of three theme concerts at New York City’s Bottom Line nightclub in the autumn of 1996. With "Hush" (2000), the classic Siberry choral style was expanded to a collection of traditional American and Celtic spirituals. "City" (2002) is a collection of her collaborations with artists around the world. In April 2002 Rhino Records, the most prestigious of the archival specialists, delivered the stunning anthology, "Love Is Everything’’, to the Siberry canon including the fourth installment of "Map Of The World" subtitled "Pilgrim".

Jane is currently recording two albums: a collection of Christmas hymns to be released this fall, as well as her next original recording, which she expects to release in 2005. She will tour North America in November and December, 2004.

Adrienne Pierce

The buzz on Adrienne Pierce continues to build. The Vancouver born singer/songwriter taps into a singular source to create music that has universal appeal. Her independently-produced debut, "Small Fires," is a pop gem full of sublime songcraft and intense performances.

- John Goodman, North Shore News

"Small Fires" has produced a plethora of rave reviews and was nominated for Best Independent Album and Best Modern Rock Record for 2002 by The Georgia Straight and Just Plain Folks respectively. The album - initially just available in Vancouver - was re-released June 8, 2004 and is now distributed in Canada by Maple Nationwide / Universal.

"Small Fires" was produced by Vancouver's Sean Ashby (Sarah McLachlan). One track, 'Every Sprinkler,' was produced, engineered and mixed by David Kershaw (Wild Strawberries) and the remaining tracks were mixed by Roger Swan (Swollen Members). The album features the talents of Darren Parris [bass] (Bocephus King), Niko Friesen [drums] (Motion Soundtrack, Lily Frost), Sean Ashby [guitar], Craig Ducommon [keys] (Springer DuCommon), Mary Ancheta [keys], and Luke Doucet [lap steel].

The video for 'Arizona' - the first single from "Small Fires" - is in rotation on Much More Music and is included on the Small Fires CD. It was shot in Death Valley, AZ by award-winning director Bill Morrison (Matthew Good Band).

'What You're Wishing For' has been licensed for an episode of The Chris Isaak Show and several other tracks have recently been licensed for Just Cause, Cold Squad, Love/15, and Edgemont. Two new songs, 'To The Truth' and 'Steal Your Car,' were broadcast on CBC's ZeD TV - the archived videos of which can be viewed at the zed.cbc.ca website.

Adrienne will continue her 2004 festival tour trend from SXSW and NXNE to showcases at the Western Canadian Music Awards and New Music West. She has shared billing with Kinnie Starr, Sondre Lerche, and the Stereophonics and will be heading out for a North American winter tour with Jane Siberry in November.
